No, when applying for a Colombian visa, you are required to remain in the country where you submitted your application until the visa process is completed. If you leave that country while your visa is in process, it may be requested again or not admitted.

Once we have all the required documentation ready for submission, the visa process usually takes between 15 and 30 days. However, processing time may be extended if the ministry requests additional information. Plan ahead and apply for your visa in advance to avoid delays.

If you overstay in Colombia, “Migración Colombia” will impose a fine ranging from $1,625,000 COP to over $6,000,000 COP, depending on how many days you have been in an irregular situation in the country.

If you wish to regularize your immigration status, you can apply for a safe-conduct and will need to pay the fine. If you plan to leave the country and want to regularize your situation, you will also need a safe-conduct and must pay the corresponding fine.

Failing to pay the fine may prevent you from entering the country and obtaining future visas. It is recommended to apply for a safe-conduct in advance to avoid issues on your travel day.
