Colombia has announced its updated minimum wage for 2025, set at $1,423,500 COP/month. 

This change has a direct impact on the financial requirements for various visa categories in the country. 

Here’s a breakdown of how the new minimum wage affects some visa qualifications: 

Applicants for the tourist Visa must demonstrate proof of income equivalent to 10 minimum wages per month.

New minimum income requirement per month in 2025: $14,235,000 COP ≈ $3,300 USD*

Applicants for student visas must demonstrate proof of income equivalent to 10 minimum wages per month.

Digital nomads must demonstrate a monthly income of at least 3 minimum wages to qualify for this visa.

Bank statements for those who work at foreign corporations but are interested in investigating the Colombian markets or considering investing in Colombia must prove a monthly income of at least ten (10) Minimum Legal Monthly Wages.

If you happen to receive periodic income from an accredited legal source, you could be eligible to apply for the Rentista/Annuity visa, and must provide income that is paid or paid on behalf of the applicant not less than ten (10) current legal monthly minimum wages (SMMLV).

Those seeking a business investment visa must invest a minimum of 100 minimum wages in a Colombian company, typically through stocks or shares.

For retirees, proof of a lifelong pension equivalent to 3 minimum wages per month is required to qualify for this visa.
