How much does income tax declaration cost in Colombia?

Yes, the RUT (Unique Tax Registry) is mandatory to file your income tax return in Colombia.

If you’re a tax resident in Colombia and don’t have a RUT, you must obtain one before filing your return. It’s a key requirement to comply with tax obligations.

The due date depends on the last digit of your RUT. That’s why it’s important to get your RUT in advance to avoid late submissions.

For the 2024 tax year, individuals classified as tax residents must file a return if they meet at least one of the following:

  1. Gross income equal to or greater than 1,400 UVT
  2. Gross assets at year-end equal to or greater than 4,500 UVT
  3. Credit card expenses over 1,400 UVT
  4. Total purchases and expenses over 1,400 UVT
  5. Bank deposits, savings, or financial investments over 1,400 UVT

Note: Due to the increase in transactions through digital wallets like Nequi, Daviplata, and Dale, DIAN now requires certain users to file taxes if they meet the thresholds mentioned above.

  1. For large taxpayers: Between February 11 and February 24, 2025 (for tax year 2024).
